One-on-one teaching gives students the attention they need. Photo by Pete Winkel

"Just because your mother is in prison doesn't mean you can't fulfill your dreams. AIM taught me that."

Dontavious, at Age 14

This year, AIM has opened the new After School program space in the Pittsburgh community. All AIM programs will be held there. The location is Heritage Station Apartments, 765 McDaniel Street, SE, Suite 3104, Atlanta, GA 30310.

Right now, an estimated 8,000 children in Georgia have mothers who are in prison. These children spend 6 years, 8 months away from their mothers on average.

Such separation can lead to acting out and doing poorly in school. And research has shown that these children are also five times more likely to end up in prison themselves.

That's why there's Aid to Children of Imprisoned Mothers (AIM).

AIM gives hope to children of imprisoned mothers, their families and our communities. We are the only nonprofit in Georgia whose sole mission is to provide programs and services to inspire hope and empower children to become successful adults    and reduce the chance that they will turn to crime.

By working with these children and their families, AIM is making our communities safer, breaking the cycle of poverty and helping save taxpayers the $17,000 a year it costs to house an inmate.
